Airing our differences

Recently, Freethinker editor Barry Duke and G&LH joint editor Andy Armitage found themselves on air on the same BBC Radio Wales radio programme.

The subject on the programme – “coming out” as a Christian – hosted by Mai Davies, was prompted by the BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine’s admission that he finds it embarrassing to talk about his Christian faith.

Barry Duke

Duke appeared on the phone-in show, set against Peter Owen Jones, an Anglican vicar and the presenter of the BBC television series Around the World in 80 Faiths.

Presenter Peter Owen Jones, ordained priest.

While listening to the debate between the two, Armitage, who is based in Wales, decided he’d try to get on to the programme, which he succeeded in doing.

You can hear the debate from the show by clicking the button below. Armitage is introduced only as “Andy from Hebron” at just over 11 minutes into the 20-minute clip.
