Crystal Tompkins is the
author of a new children’s book, Oh The Things
Mommies Do!, published 14 June. The
book, which is a playful celebration of
lesbian mothers and their children, is aimed
at early readers aged one to five.
Tompkins (28) is
self-publishing the book with her partner
Lindsey (also 28). They both live in the USA
and met in Austin, Texas, while doing an
Americorps environmental programme. They
married last September. They recently moved
to New York City.
Tompkins explained that
she and Lindsey had been toying with the
idea of having children. “And, both of us
being avid readers, we were wondering what
we would read to our children. After
researching and finding that there were not
very many books that would fit our family,
we decided to write our own.”
Oh The Things Mommies
Do! is a bouncy and playful look at the
joys of a two-Mom family. With its catchy
rhymes and vibrant illustrations, it is a
pleasure for children and parents alike!
