One Law for All Fundraiser Dinner

27 June 2009, 7 pm

This takes place at one of London’s finest gastro-pubs (venue will be notified to you on receipt of payment), providing a three-course dinner and support for the One Law for All Campaign against Sharia Law in Britain.

The campaign and its spokesperson, Maryam Namazie, have just been profiled in the June 2009 issue of Easy Living magazine, and featured in the March 2009 of Gay & Lesbian Humanist.

The dinner’s keynote speaker will be A C Grayling, the renowned philosopher, author, writer, reviewer and broadcaster

Tickets £60 per person. Post a cheque payable to One Law for All to BM Box 2387, London WC1N 3XX, or pay via PayPal.

Please note that it is possible to reserve a table for a group. Once payment has been received, we will send you your ticket(s), along with details of the venue and a menu to choose from. To offer greater choice to our guests and to enable the chefs to cater with speed and efficiency we will be asking you to make your dinner choices in advance.

If you have any questions about the dinner, please feel free to contact us. Given that space is limited, we would appreciate receiving payment as soon as possible and no later than June 20.

We hope this fundraiser and others like it will help us to raise much-needed funds to get rid of Sharia and religious courts and tribunals once and for all.

If you can’t come to the event but want to support the fundraiser, you can send in a donation of £60 to cover the cost of a volunteer to attend.

Beyond a Single Identity:

Meeting the Needs of our Diverse LGBT Community

Thursday, 18 June
Leicester University Conference Centre

With the forthcoming passage of the new Single Equalities Bill, more emphasis will be put on ensuring that nobody is discriminated against because of age, disability, gender or gender identity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. But what about people who face both homophobia and racism, who feel excluded because they’re a gay parent, or face higher barriers because they’re trans and disabled?

Can you meet the needs of those who don’t fit neatly into one of society’s boxes?

Further developing the work started by the Leicester Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Centre (LLGBC) at last year’s “A Life in a Day” conference, “Beyond a Single Identity” will equip delegates with new ways of looking at and dealing with issues concerning LGBT people.

Attending this conference will allow you to explore the often overlooked “grey areas” of equality and give you practical ways of tackling discrimination and acting in a way that is welcoming to all.

EHP Conference in Berlin

3 & 4 July 2009

European Humanist Professionals (EHP) is holding a conference in Berlin concerning humanism and gender. We aim to have a closer look at the European situation today.

The interaction between both topics is quite vivid and has lots of faces. Therefore the conference concerning will combine “science” and “field experience”, “theoretical” and “practical” aspects. The conference will host lectures as well as workshops, a city walk, exhibitions, several working visits (such as the opening of the first Humanist hospice in Berlin) and many other things! The programme is in progress.
