On the Blog

We take our regular look at what’s been happening on the Pink Triangle blog.

Blogwatch

“Blogwatch” has invited other bloggers to make occasional contributions, with the simple brief: what do they blog about, and why? Here, Billy Deaton tells us about his US blog, Good Reason News.

Martyn Andrews

In an exclusive interview, Mike Foxwell asks Martyn Andrews what gay life in Russia is really like and what the prospects are for the future. Andrews is the well-known British expat presenter for the English-language Russian TV channel, Russia Today. Surprisingly perhaps, in view of what happened in Moscow, Andrews is very optimistic for the future but warns that the wrong type of support for the Russian gay-rights movement from campaigners in more liberal countries may jeopardise, or at least slow, progress.

Fairies

Do you believe in fairies?

Whether you believe in them or not, clearly some who think they’re experts in fairy lore are anything but, as Charlie Coventry explains.

Good

Does religion make you good?

Perhaps, writes Neil Richardson, you don’t need religion to be good – but he believes it helps.

Code Comfort

At last, an apology for Alan Turing, the wartime code breaker – but is it too little, too late? Andy Armitage reports.

Sshh! Saturdays

The founder of A Day In Hand, David Watkins, explains a new initiative to encourage LGBT people worldwide to take responsibility for their own equality.

Gaytheist

Welcome to the new Gaytheist list, run by the Pink Triangle Trust.

Gaytheist is an uncensored discussion group for gay and gay-friendly straight atheists, agnostics and freethinkers who want to discuss matters of interest.

Other Europe
Part 3

“Lesbians and gays, bisexuals and transgender people live with discrimination and exclusion throughout Europe. Homophobic violence and disrespect are daily events,” reports Colin de la Motte-Sherman in the last of his three-part series looking at life for LGBT people in European states.

Out of Print

Here is another in our series of reprints of articles from earlier issues of the print version of G&LH.

In G&LH, Summer 2004, Andrew Hodges wrote this article to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Alan Turing.

Gossip

Warren Allen Smith takes his regular meander Stateside.

Airings

Who’s an atheist?

It’s begun. Series 5 of Doctor Who began filming in Cardiff this summer, giving the universe its first view of Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. Dean Braithwaite investigates.
